1. Install the App: 1a. On Android phones install OsmAnd from Google Playstore - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.osmand 1b. OsmAnd say there is an App for iPhones - but don't ask me for instructions - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/osmand-maps-travel-navigate/id934850257 2. Install the Map region. Open OsmAnd and keep zooming to nearest town until you are asked to download the map. You may need more than one map, depending on the area covered by the GPX. These are advised in each sub-directory in 'maps.txt'. 2a. If you have downloaded more than 5 map regions, you will have to uninstall and re-install OsmAnd - it is a restriction on their free App. 3. Download the GPX file/s from the relevant sub-directory. 4. (Android - iPhone maybe different) On your phone with My Files (or other App) navigate to where you have downloaded the files, highlight one GPX file (long hold on filename) and select 'More/Open with' and select OsmAnd. In OsmAnd 4a. The screen returns to 'Options' menu. Select 'Follow track' (when you are ready to start). When the track summary is displayed, again scroll down until you see 'Attach to roads' and select it. At the next prompt press 'Continue', select 'Driving' and 'Apply'. When you are ready to go, press 'Start'. It will give a voice prompt at the start. Make sure your phone is set for 'Media-Load' settings for volume. 4b. Thereafter you get voice instructions as per normal SatNav, with road turns etc. If you only get 'turn left', 'bare right' etc you didn't 'Attach to roads' or haven't downloaded the relevant map. 4c. If you want to Stop the navigation, press anywhere on the screen, it should bring up options in the bottom left of the screen for the main menu (three horizontal bars) and a blue pointer. Select the blue pointer - press 'Stop' or 'Resume'. 4d. If there are any POIs in this section, you will get a voice command shortly before, detailing 4e. You get a voice prompt when you reach your destination. 4f. For a subsequent track (if there are any), select main menu (three horizontal bars) at bottom left, 'My Places' and make sure 'Tracks' are highlighted. Follow 4a through 4f. 4g. To load a new GPX file, first delete the old one, by selecting the main menu (three horizontal bars) at bottom left, 'My Places' and make sure 'Tracks' are highlighted, then click the three vertical dots alongside 'Import' and 'Delete folder'. Then repeat 4. onwards. 5. PDF files are expected to be printed (they don't come out well on a small screen and are impossible to read while driving). Some files have portrait and landscape included in the same file. Tulip routes are copyrighted. If you want/need them then email the request.
